Get a move on; begin to abide now.

June 14th

God will not make me think like Jesus, I have to do it myself;

It'd be so much easier if God would just magically make me think more like Him. I'm incapable of doing any good on my own, but He won't just do it for me either. I have to say "so long self" if I want to become anew, he won't just go away.

"Abide in Me" - in intellectual matters, in money matters, in every one of the matters that make human life what it is.

Yeah...about that...are you sure I can't just give you part of my life and let me continue to worry about money and other things? No? Oh...

I don't understand why I have such a difficult time giving up control to Him. I really don't.

Determine to abide in Jesus wherever you are placed.

Because we know with our head that God can handle it better than us, but we don't always believe it in our hearts, and it takes a lot of trust to relinquish control?

I like the compartmentalized way of thinking. "God, you can have this part of my life...that part too, I guess...I'd rather keep this one to myself, since you would probably change it up a lot, and I like it the way it is..." I'm ashamed to say that I do this often, sometimes even consciously.

I'm incapable of doing any good on my own, but He won't just do it for me either.

a delicious paradox. I love it.
